ultrasound (3)Ultrasound has become a widely-used tool in veterinary medicine to evaluate the health of internal body structures.

Crosslake Veterinary Hospital routinely uses ultrasound to diagnose internal organ tumors and disorders, cardiac disease, pregnancy, and bladder stones, as well as to safely obtain tissue and fluid samples for analysis.

Abnormal fluid accumulations, masses, enlarged organs, and other abnormalities are readily identified in much greater detail with an ultrasound than can be appreciated with physical examination or routine radiology (x-ray) studies. Once those abnormalities have been discovered, ultrasound can be used to safely guide needle biopsies for a definitive diagnosis.
